Wolf Klinz will chair the special committee on crisis - Hoofdinhoud
The Special Committee on Financial, Economic and Social Crisis (CRIS) has elected as its Chairman German MEP Wolf Klinz (ALDE) at its inaugural meeting on Thursday in Brussels.
Members of the CRIS committee also elected four vice-chairs: Iliana Ivanova (EPP, BG), Liisa Jaakonsaari (S&D, FI), Pascal Canfin (Greens/EFA, FR) and Miguel Portas (GUE/NGL, PT).
The CRIS committee was set up on 7 October 2009 to analyze and evaluate the extent of the crisis, its impact on the Union and its Member States, and the state of world governance. It has 45 members and 12-month mandate, with the possibility of extension.
The special committee will present to Parliament a mid-term report and a final report containing recommendations concerning the measures and initiatives to be taken.
