The comparative history of political concepts, their transfer and transformation between contexts (languages, countries, regions, intitutions, regimes, historical periods, etc.) has been a major interest in the international conference and networks on conceptual history. A project on 'European Conceptual History' has now taken the form of a the thematic book series. The Sixth Jyväskylä Annual Symposium, which will take place on the 11th and 12th of June 2011, thus provides an occasion to make the book series known to a wider academic audience in Finland and beyond, and simultaneously as a workshop for the, yet unfinished, book project.

In the symposium the book series is presented and some of the main articles of the introductory volume on the principles and practices of a comparative European conceptual history will be discussed. The point is to discuss the new challenges in problematics, sources, research practices and conclusions when writing conceptual history on the European level and when offering a conceptual historical perspective on European politics.

The symposium is followed on 13-14 June by an international Concepta Research Course on 'Rethinking Parliaments', in which a number of the symposium speakers also participate.
