On Thuesday August 28 2012, the annual Summer Conference of the Montesquieu Institute will be opened by Professor Paul Schnabel in the The Hague.

The theme of this 3rd edition of the Summer Conference is "The other gap: Image and Reality '.

The central topic of this conference is the gap between the political reality in the Netherlands and Brussels and the image the public has of this 'reality'. What are the consequences of this gap between reality and the general perception? What role does the media play in this distorted imagery? How can politicians and administrators deal with it? How can a more realistic and reliable picture of the political reality be formed?
