This event addressed governance aspects of sustainable urban development the EU and China.

High-level officials of city administrations, practitioners and academics presented a number of case studies from cities on how to bring about effective governance to sustainable urban development policies and projects. Presentations were followed by a debate with the audience.

The event was organised by the Committee of the Regions, the EU’s assembly of regional and local representatives, in cooperation with the European Commission’s Regional Policy DG and Eurocities, the network of mayor European Cities.

The event was a part of the EU-China Mayors’ Forum, held on 19 and 20 September 2012 in Brussels. This Forum was the first annual flagship event of the EU-China Urbanisation Partnership. It brought together EU and Chinese Mayors, local decision-makers, city planners, business and NGOs willing to share experience in moving towards sustainable, integrated and efficient solutions.
