The Department of Political Sciences of the Sapienza University of Rome is the heir of the Faculty of Political Sciences founded in 1925, that had its origins in the pre-existing School of Political Sciences. The Department offers Bachelor's degree and Master's degree programmes, and Phd courses. It conducts research in many fields with a multi-disciplinary approach: history, law, political thought, political science, sociology.
It organizes every year several conferences and workshops. Its research projects include the evolution of the European political systems, the transformations of the Italian parliamentary system, the European integration and the development of the European Parliament, the transformations of political parties, the electoral systems, the concept of representation and the new forms of political participation.
