On 5-7 September, London’s University of Westminster and the History of Parliament hosted the “Century of Women MPs” conference. What seemed to be an event commemorating the extension of electoral rights of 1918 in the UK, turned out be a fascinating picture of British female pioneers in Parliament as well as later presence of women in politics.
EuParl.net was there, Carla von Baalen talked about a clash about women’s employment in the Dutch parliament in the 1950s and Adéla Gjuričová described the puzzle of female representation in communist legislatures.
